When I was a college student many years agoI read Snow's famous book, "Red Star Over China," the work that first introduced the enigmatic leaders of the Chinese Communist revolution to a curious Western public. Thomas deftly places us back in that era as we embark with Snow on his journey of discovery. I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of Snow's personal encounters with Chairman Mao, which I found surprisingly poignant.
