Mommy, Buy Me a China Doll; Adapted From an Ozark Children's Song ReviewThe lyrical text is a dialogue between daughter and mother and is adapted from a folksy Ozark children's song. The illustrations are whimsical and beautifully rendered in warm, woodsy colors, depicting such silly notions as Daddy sleeping in the horsey's bed, horsey sleeping in sister's bed and Granny in the piggy pen. I wish the melody were shown in musical notation as is the case with many other picture books based on songs. I've tried to make up a melody but am sure it's not as beautiful as the original.Mommy, Buy Me a China Doll; Adapted From an Ozark Children's Song Overview
