Thunder in Formosa (An International Thriller) ReviewI purchased this book for a flight back from Taiwan to the US and found that it was perfectly suited to reading on an airplane-entertaining, and an easy read which did not challenge me in a jet lagged state. I enjoyed reading about the places I had just visited, although reading about those places, and the nice people of Taiwan, being the victims of a terrible disaster and humanitarian crisis was a lot less fun. The author made many mentions of how male characters managed to scope out breasts peeking from blouses, bras hanging on clotheslines and trapping men as they flee their pursuers, skimpy bathing suits, and well oiled but less well covered bodies; this sophomoric aspect of the book was less titillating than it was inspiring of the thought that the author is at least a tad on the immature side. It is written as if the author hopes that this one will be his big break for a "screenplay" which might explain some of the breast and bra narration described above. Despite these digs, I admit that I enjoyed the book and think that for a light reading mystery fan, and for someone who enjoys thinking about Taiwan, its a pretty good book.Thunder in Formosa (An International Thriller) OverviewCIA operative Mick Pierce leads a peaceful existence at a posting in the South China Sea.
